چکیده
Abstract Co-products from the ethanol industry may be able to provide high-quality sustainable protein sources for pet foods. Unlike traditional co-products, corn fermented (CFP) contains a yeast component which additional benefits. The objective of this study was determine, by exchange, effects in on diet utilization. four experimental diets included control with no (CON) and containing either 3.5% brewer’s dried (BDY), 17.5% distiller’s grains solubles plus 2.5% (BDY+DDGS), or CFP (CFP). It assumed that contained 20% all treatments except CON were formulated contain yeast. Experimental fed adult cats (n = 11) replicated 4 x Latin Square design. Cats adapted 9 days followed 5-d total fecal collection. Titanium dioxide (0.4%) added as marker estimate digestibility. Data analyzed using mixed model SAS (version 9.4, Institute, Inc., Cary, NC) treatment fixed effect cat period random effects. Dry output greatest BDY+DDGS at 20.2 g/d compared other an average 16.3 (P < 0.05). Defecations per day also consuming When comparing BDY+DDGS, digestibility dry matter, organic gross energy about 3% greater 0.05) CFP. Short branched chain fatty acids samples not altered dietary treatment. increase decrease indicates fiber DDGS Therefore, providing nutrient utilization when cats.

Numerous studies have been conducted that demonstrate a small but significant improvement in feed conversion efficiency when a direct-fed microbial product containing a combination of Lactobacillus acidophilus (strain LA51) and Propionibacterium freudenreichii (strain PF24) was added to conventional corn-based feedlot diets. The purpose of this study was to determine whether this direct-fed com...
متن کاملComparison of bacterial communities in faeces of beef cattle fed diets containing corn and wet distillers' grain with solubles.
AIM The mammalian intestinal microflora has been shown to impact host physiology. In cattle, intestinal bacteria are also associated with faecal contamination of environmental sources and human illness via foodborne pathogens. Use of wet distillers' grains with solubles (WDGS) in cattle feed creates a gastrointestinal environment where some bacterial species are enriched. Here, we examine if a ...
متن کاملEffect of Feeding DAS-59122-7 Corn Grain and Nontransgenic Corn Grain to Individually Fed Finishing Steers
An experiment was conducted to evaluate feeding transgenic corn containing the cry34Ab1 and cry35Ab1 genes from a Bacillus thuringiensis strain and the phosphinothricin acetyltransferase (pat) gene from Streptomyces viridochromogenes to finishing cattle compared with nontransgenic corn. Expression of the cry34Ab1 and cry35Ab1 genes confers resistance to corn rootworms, and the pat gene confers ...
